2009: No Euro: Peso

This year's entry falls under the category of boring slide show. In a year when our captains of industry sold us out, busting open the big piñata and making off with all the candy, we played it safe and stuck close to our own continent. The cheapest Mexican getaway in April was Cancun, a place so far down on my places-to-see-before-I-croak list I'd run out of ink. But travel is made up of happy accidents (when it's not full of tragic ones), and we avoided the glitzy corporate hotel Norteamericano vomit strip and had a blast in the old-town centro. Somehow we also avoided the Swine Flu, as most of the fellow wanderers in our hotel had just arrived from Mexico City the very week it struck.
But we can't deny that this was more vacation than travel. Lounge chairs and maitais? I'm so ashamed! If you can stand the cheese, click on the photos to make 'em big! (Some were taken by Vanessa).
